NeARES is a nonprofit organization based in Lincoln, NE. This is a memberless organization with a mission that covers many areas of Amateur Radio, including public service, emergency operations, education, and building relationships through volunteerism to governmental agencies.

The July 2021 LARC meeting presentation will cover information about this organization and its mission. We will also give a review of our primary project: the NeARES Repeater Network, a statewide analog system built through a consortium of repeater owners.

Annual Pre “Lincoln Hamfest” Dinner, Friday June 18, 5:30 pm

All hams and convention vendors are invited to a pre “Lincoln Hamfest” dinner at LEES RESTAURANT, Friday, June 18, 5:30 pm, at West Van Dorn and Coddington. Dutch treat, order off the menu. It is a good time to renew old friendships from across Nebraska and create new ones. All hams are invited. Bring a fellow ham, friends, and family member for an evening of fellowship and good down-home American food.

June Club Meeting

NEMA and Amateur Radio

Our June presenter is Troy Harris, radio communications systems coordinator for the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). Before joining NEMA, he served in the United States Air Force as a ground radio communications specialist and airfield systems technician. He is a credentialed type 3 communications unit leader and communications unit technician, and he has completed the instructor’s requirements for both courses.

Troy’s duties include maintaining NEMA’s communications systems and equipment, managing the state’s IPAWS program, and representing the agency on the state emergency communications committee, AMBER/EMA Task Force, and the state radio system users’ group. He will present how NEMA and Amateur Radio work together.

Memorial for Jim Brazee, KØCWW/SK

There will be a memorial service for Jim Brazee, K0CWW on May 29th, 2021 at 10:00 am at Eastridge Presbyterian Church. Jim passed on December 5, 2020 (obituary).

If anyone would like to share any memories of Jim, they may do so at the memorial or they can just email them to Tom Brazee to have them added to the written memories that will be shared at the service.
