Totality: Welcome to the Dark Side and the Eclipse of a Lifetime

Dr. Daniel Claes, PH.D., professor and chair of the department of Physics and Astronomy at UNL will present.

What causes eclipses and makes total solar eclipses so rare? What can we
expect August 21 in Lincoln and how can an eclipse be viewed safely?  Come to learn about the eclipse on August 21.

LES Presentation

Lincoln Electric Systems will do a presentation on electrical safety and how it applies to Amateur Radio. They will have their power safety demonstration trailer with them — imagine blown up hot dogs.

A special awards presentation is also planned that you don’t want to miss.

Hamvention: The Big Move

Joe Eisenberg, KØNEB, will cover why Hamvention moved, what obstacles needed to be overcome in the new location, and how things went for the first Hamvention held at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Some things went great, and some things did not. He has lots of photos to show to tell the story.

ARDEN™ is a high-speed data network built with Amateur Radio operators and
emergency communications Infrastructure in mind. By itself, AREDN is only
a networking technology that provides the basis for services such as email,
video, phone systems, computer-aided dispatching, and many others.

Adam Kavan, KDØMMG, and Mary Joseph, NØTRK, members of the Ak-Sar-
Ben Amateur Radio Club, will give an overview of the AREDN system and
demo some of the services that can be provided.
