Dayton Hamvention

Joe Eisenberg, KØNEB, will present his annual Dayton Hamvention® overview. Joe’s presentations are always interesting, and you don’t want to miss this one. This year’s theme was “Amateur Radio … Serving the Community.”

Orthotics

Jason Dean is an upper limb specialist and general manager at the Hanger Clinic: Prosthetics and Orthotics in Lincoln. He will present on technology advancements in lower and upper limb prosthetics and give an overview of the ways microprocessors and other recent technologies impact the lives of amputees.

There will be a number of items on hand to see, touch, and operate. Jason is the “leg guy” for John Huseman, WDØEZI.

April Club Meeting

The April club meeting is April 11 at 19:30. We will meet at LI-COR (4647 Superior Street) – located near the intersection of Superior Street and North 48th Street.

Allow Communications

I’m sure by now you have heard of ALLO. Have you thought about the technology that is used for their distribution system? Would you like to know all the technical stuff that goes along with a fiber network?

Dirk and Brian of ALLO Communications will fill us in on all their installation progress, where ALLO is right now, and where they are going. Brian will give you all the technical data on the system and answer any questions you have.

Tech Class Starting

Interested in getting involved with Ham Radio?  This is where you start.  Join us as we study for the Technician class license.

Join us in room 130 at Union College’s Krueger Center (approximately 50th and Bancroft) from 18:30-21:30 starting Monday, April 16.  The class will run six weeks.

No book is required and the class is free

Registration is not required.  Just show up.

Amateur Extra Class

Have your General license and interested in upgrading?

Join us in room 130 at Union College’s Krueger Center (approximately 50th and Bancroft) from 18:30-21:30 starting Wednesday, March 21.  The class will run six weeks.  Testing will be provided at the end of the class.

The class is free, please bring the ARRL Extra Class License Manual 11th Edition.  It is available from the ARRL and Amazon in print (paperback or spiral and Kindle). For study purposes, I also recommend 2016-2020 Extra Class FCC Element 4 by Gordon West.

Registration is not required.  Just show up.
